Remember all of the good things I’ve said about Linda Thompson on this site?

It was mostly when she was elected President of City Council.

(Don’t remember? Well look here, here, here and a myriad of message board posts and street-talk prior to her announcement to run for Mayor.)

Well, despite all of the good, there was one instance where I questioned her character- it was the “Kill Whitey Demeanor” in the “I met the candidates” post prior to the primary.

Shortly thereafter, I got several phone calls informing me that she was stunned that I’d say such a thing. But instead of facing the accusation (of which I am not alone in thinking) she decided (certainly at the urging of James Ellison) to ignore the statement and power forward with her campaign.

Linda won the Democratic nomination for Mayor of Harrisburg in an unprecedented, landslide election.

So certainly, my statement didn’t hurt her campaign.

Although if the word-on-the-street is any good indicator, many of us in the 30% populous of Harrisburg are concerned about her views of the lighter-skinned race.

ANYWAY- a few weeks ago, I met with the Mayor regarding the abolition of the Amusement Tax. I issued a few press releases and posted some blog fodder relating the info. The Patriot News ran a short blurb about the status of my fight; in which, Linda Thompson was quoted as saying “she’s not aware of legislation being drafted. She expects city legal staff to recommend to council that it not eliminate the tax.”

Fearing that Linda didn’t have the whole scope of the discussion between Reed and I before her, I decided to call her. And I left a voicemail.

And I waited a few days for a return call…and called again. And left another voicemail.

About a week later, I left another voicemail.

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand that in her new-found-state-of-importance, Linda is a very busy man, man. But how difficult would it be for a Mayoral candidate and City Council president to return a single phone call. (For the record- I’m a relatively quick phone guy. I try to keep things under the five-minute mark.)

So, Linda- I know this will be forwarded to you. Please give me a call. I’m sorry that it had to come to this, but this is the one major concern that I, as a tax-paying citizen of this fine city, have with living here.

Patronize me. Whatever. Just return a call, please.

Because I’d hate to think that if my voicemail message included the words “I’d like to contribute money to your campaign” that you would have called me back by now…

Hugs and kisses,

Jersey Mike
