Another Mayoral Indictment

June 3rd, 2009 Jersey Comments off

This one hits close to home for me- Carlstadt, New Jersey- which is two towns over from where I grew up…

The mayor of Carlstadt, N.J., and his ex-wife were indicted by a Bergen County Grand Jury for leaving her on the borough’s health insurance plan after their divorce.

Got that? They got divorced…he left her on the borough’s health insurance plan…and he was charged criminally.

Seems like small potatoes in comparison to sweetheart deals, missing money and selectively enforced taxes.

Roseman and Lewin are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment in four weeks and face up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the most serious offense, second-degree official misconduct, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Mayor Indicted- Best Of List

Google has a neat feature that lets you set email alerts for your favorite keywords. I have a few set and they get delivered daily- some of which include “appalachian brewing company”, “harrisburg blogger”, “amusement tax”, and, of course, “jersey mike” (although 90% of the results are about that stupid sub shop from Point Pleasant, NJ)

ANYWAY- my favorite Google Alerts which I get emails about has got to be the one for “mayor indicted”.

You see, I just love hearing and reading about corrupt politicians getting their asses handed to them for mismanaging the positions which they were elected to based on the trust and confidence placed in them by their constituency.

So this post is something of a ‘best of’ with links to stories from around the country about Mayors being…wait for it…indicted.

And many of the stories sound eerily similar to a little town that I know of inbetween Philly and Pittsburgh.
