Reeds Non-Announcement

Just got back from the hugely-anticipated Mayor Reed Mayoral Race Press Conference at City Hall.

All of the players were out.

Strangely, only one city council member was in attendance- Brad Koplinski. Also Randy “I Haven’t Spoken To The Mayor Since I Left My Post” King, Calobe Jackson, Vera “Bingo” White, Chuck Schultz, Gloria Giambalvo, Matt “What He Said” Coulter.

In the “Not Standing Behind Him But There Nonetheless” were County Commissioner George Hartwick at stage left and Ron Buxton at stage right. Of course Johnny “Love My Bobbleheads” Lavenda was way upstage left.

And of course, the others- Myself, Karns, Sheila Ford, Roxbury.

Harrisburg Highs Drum Corps led an odd intro- with the major shouting “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” at the end of their…um, intro.

And then, the man of the hour- the tower of power…the master of spin…

OH! Wait…how could I forget…both John Luciew AND Dan “John Luciew Jr” Miller were there…

And then Reed’s speech.

Went on for about fifteen minutes…BUT- he did not say whether or not he’s running for Mayor again.

Sure, the signs were up.

The buttons were out.

The stickers were free.

But Steven Reed- during his speech- did not say anything closely resembling “I am running for Mayor”

He DID, however, ask all in attendance to stick around until he had a chance to come around to greet everyone.

I stayed…even dried my nervous, sweaty palms when he was ten feet from me in anticipation of my first handshake with the boss…

But it didn’t happen.

Just like his re-election, if all goes well, will not happen.
