Let’s Get Ready To Rumble

Hear that? In the not-too-far-out-distance?

It’s the battle-call of our local politicians gearing up for the upcoming primaries in May.

Dan Miller was the first to announce his candidacy for city Controller.

Incumbent James McCarthy- currently serving his eighth term- has not yet announced whether or not he’ll be running as well.

Kia Hansard has announced she’ll be running for a seat on city council. Hansard ran two years ago and lost by a slim margin to Brad Koplinski.

Patty Kim also announced she’ll be running for her second term on council.

No word yet from Wanda Williams on whether or not she’ll be seeking another term.

Linda Thompson is *officially* announcing her candidacy for Mayor tonight at 5:30PM at City Hall. (No word whether or not she’ll be also running for Council)

Also running for Mayor is former school board member Les Ford.

And word on the street has it that we’ll be hearing from another local public figure about his/her run for a council seat.

So for those of you keeping score (I know I am) that leaves us with- Dan Miller and Linda Thompson’s seats wide open.

Patty Kim running to keep hers.

No word from Wanda (yet)

And Koplinski, Roberts and Wilson sitting for another two years.

For Council- the only official announcements have been Patty Kim and Kia Hansard- leaving us with two more seats to be filled.

Dauphin County Election Petitioning begins on February 17 and runs through March 10.

It’s gonna be a fun race…stay tuned right here for I’ll sure to be opining shortly.
