Reverend Al Sharpton to visit Harrisburg
Harrisburg City Council President Linda Thompson announced that Reverend Al Sharpton will be visiting Harrisburg this coming October 29, 2008.
The controversial Reverend is slated to make two appearances- the first will be at Penn State -Middletown in the Student Building at 10:30AM where he will engage students in discussion on the upcoming elections.
The second part of Reverend Sharpton’s visit will take place at Camp Curtain School-Sixth and Division at 6:00PM the same day- and will be a participatory community forum attended by Gloria Martin-Roberts, Susan Brown Wilson and Thompson along with Sharpton.
These forums are free to the public and will focus on accessibility to voting polls, absentee voting, military ballots, the rights of convicted felons and much more. There will also be participation from the Dauphin County Bureau of Elections, and the PA Department of State. The forums will also be interactive allowing the community at-large to ask questions.
These are non-partisan events. Past elections have had low voter participation. It is the focus of Reverend Sharpton, involved City Council members, the Clergy and the National Association Networks to “GET OUT THE VOTE.”
