CBS-21 Opens Can Of Whup Ass On Lavenda, Reed
Continuing their stellar investigation into the doings and takings of Mayor Reed’s confidante/lotion-boy John Lavenda, Jason Bristol of WHP-21 reported a follow up on the “is that still happening?” Sports Hall of Fame scam being perpetrated by Lavenda and The City of Harrisburg on it’s citizens.
“But critics have publicly called the hall of fame a scam; a way to funnel money to a friend of Mayor Stephen Reed.” The report states. Continuing “ We found that Levenda was not telling the truth during our interview.”
Lavenda? A close friend and business associate of Mayor Stephen Reed not telling the truth?
Lavenda told Jason Bristol that he was in contact with several Sports Halls of Fame over the past few years- but when Bristol pushed for the names of those Halls, Lavenda said, simply “…I can’t remember.”

Tossing aside the pissing contest between Reed and his critics, museum directors are usually paid in some reasonable respect to the size of the budget of their organization. For rinky dink museums, it could be 30K or even less. For the big museums, it could be millions for the director. So I wonder how big is the budget of the Sports Hall of Fame and how congruent is Lavenda’s salary to generally accepted compensation levels? Or is he more of a development director/fundraiser? What are his responsibilities? There sure are a lot more questions than answers, and I don’t have an axe to grind.
