My Obligatory Twitter Post
Are you on Twitter yet?
Part instant messenger, part bulletin board and, in an odd way, part chat room, Twitter seems to be the hottest new-thing-to-do with social networking on the net.
I first read about it on Daniel Victor’s blog- and must admit that I was skeptical at first.
“Bah, just another MySpace or Facebook to occupy more of my time and something else to become obsessed with”.
But after Tweeting for about five days now, I have to say that Twitter could be one of the more useful blogging and networking tools I’ve come across.
You see, it’s not like MySpace or Facebook in the sense that one doesn’t need to set up an elaborate page with different things to pay attention to like who’s commenting, who’s in your top friends, what your “mood” is and sifting through all of those bulletins from bands that you don’t care about- but what Twitter IS – is a simple tool to send brief messages about arbitrary subjects which, when added up with your group of Twitter friends, reads like a pretty RSS or newsfeed.
I’ve also installed a plugin on my blog that will post a message (or “Tweet” as they’re called on Twitter) to my Twitter list as soon as I publish a new blog.
It’s simple – the message length is 140 characters (shorter than a text message on my Treo) and gets added to the list of people who follow you.
So, there you have it. My obligatory Twitter post.
Oh, where’s mine? Luckily, I got in early enough to score http://twitter.com/jerseymike. And for you show-goers, I’ve also procured http://twitter.com/rtp (Roundtable Presents)- /roundtable was already taken and /roundtablepresents was too long.

Floor9 represented! And blogHarrisburg as /harrisburg.
Thanks for the suggestion.
