The brick structure underneath caves in, leaving little support, and they simply re-attach the grating at street level, which in my mind is dangerous. Which makes it impossible to then clean a clogged drain, because they have to break up the asphalt to access it. I have a drain in front of my house with the same problem, and the city has been totally unresponsive for years. In my experience, the city doesn’t “repair these”. In side notes they have marked gas and other utilities with paint in front of my second street home.
