Hey, great post. I live near Harrisburg, and yes, I am a blogger. I blog about technology and my life over at www.brianpolensky.com and http://www.polenskyfamily.com. I guess it doesn't normally pertain to Harrisburg but I am looking to change that. Actually, I am trying to start a Social/New Media fan group in the area. I did start a FaceBook group, but if you want to know more, email me at socialmediaHBG@gmail.com. I would like to get some harrisburg New Media people together and see if we can't make this grow in the area.

[...] And I’m not the only one complaining about the lack of bloggers/social media users in the area — two of the few we have, Brian Polensky and Jersey Mike — beat me to it. [...]

Aww, Jersey, you're much too kind.
Nice post. I definitely want to see more local blogs, but I think it's important for something well-written and relevant. I tire easily of overblown rants. Anyone who posts regularly though, is appreciated (though I can't be too critical - I go on my own mini-hiatuses and don't post nearly as often as I'd like). I'd like to read a blog from someone learning something new in the area, or a retail blog that isn't purely customer vents - or something about activities in the area (I know we have biking blogs, but in addition to those).

Amen, brother! There's an urgent need for more bloggers in the area for the very reasons you outlined. You just KNOW the talent is out there! Even if they could only bang out a paragraph once or twice a week, some of those ideas would be spectacular. If anyone wants to start blogging and needs a helping hand, I too am always glad to help get them off the ground -- and get some traffic as well.
