What Luciew Forgot To Mention
John Luciew, for the Patriot News, reported tonight on an incident at the Harrisburg School Board of Control Meeting involving ousted board member Liz Wilson.
He wrote: “The Harrisburg School District Board of Control abruptly adjourned Monday night’s meeting after a resident uttered the “N-word” four times while addressing the board.
Elizabeth Wilson, a former member of the elected board, used the term during the public comment period at the outset of the meeting. Wilson, who is black, said she was attempting to explain comparisons of the “mentality” of the black board members to that of so-called house slaves when she used the N-word repeatedly in her descriptions.”
He continued the article by indicating the race of the school board members and included a quote by Clare Jones explaining her disdain for the term.
What Luciew failed to include in his reporting was that four weeks prior, Clare Jones addressed attendees of the Board of Control meeting of December 17th beginning her diatribe by saying “There is something else I wish to say…and that is my concern of the use of the term house ni**ger…”
Jones launched into a winded speech and used the “n” word twice- both times expressing her disdain for the term.
The relevance of her usage of the word is as shocking as her hat selection.
But nonetheless, Luciew left that part out of his report.
Spin-journalism? Maybe.
Unfair reporting? Quite possibly.
The Luciew Way? Most definitely.
