Uno, Dos, Tres, Catorce- U2 in 3D Will Blow Your Twisted Little Minds

I guess you could say that I’m a “fairweather” U2 fan.

Sure, I love Achtung Baby and The Joshua Tree just as much as the next guy.

But I’ve never really gone out of my way to listen to them.

Occasionally, a U2 tune will wind up on a mixtape or, if I’m feeling nostalgic, I’ll pop in my copy of Rattle and Hum and rock out and sing along to Desire.

But other than that, U2 has always been more of a peripheral band for me.

Seeing U2-3D at the IMAX at Whitaker last night (courtesy of my good friends at XPN), however, may have changed the way I view U2.

I believe it’s quite possible that, after viewing the ninety minute EPIC concert filmed in Argentina,  I’m convinced that Bono may quite well be the closest thing we’ll ever see to Jesus Christ.

You see, it’s not just a concert film.

It’s a mind-boggling, state-of-the-art and completely redefined way of viewing a live concert.

It’s not like being front-row at a U2 concert; it’s like being ONSTAGE.

The details that are visible on the giganto screen will blow your mind, I assure you. You can see the gaff tape holding down the setlist in front of each member. You can see the spotlight operators in their booths. You can see stagehands shuffling about making the show happen.

And the detail on the faces of the crowd? It’s absolutely un-fucking-believable.

Now before I type this next sentence I’ll remind you that I never, never make a big deal about event’s happening at The Whitaker Center. But on Thursday, when it opens nationally, GO SEE U2 in 3D.
