It’s with great pleasure and after much anticipation that we officially announce a couple of upcoming shows for your rocking-out pleasure.

First, Thursday February 20th we finally welcome Tom Hamilton’s American Babies to The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company.

“Tom Hamilton is only in his mid-’20s, but the singer commands his nursery of American Babies with all the seasoned know-how of someone twice his age. Hamilton’s band is positively huge, a co-ed family comprised of two guitarists, a bassist, an xylophone virtuoso (!!), Mr. Hamilton himself, and a solid drummer courtesy of the Benevento/Russo Duo. Such a lineup could easily create a large, boisterous sound, but the American Babies apply a “less is more” mentality to these rootsy, country-infused tunes.”

And then, Friday March 21st marks the return of Asheville NC virtuosos Toubab Krewe.

“Blending Malian, American, and “Dirty South” influences into a genre all its own, Toubab Krewe “has set a new standard for fusions of rock ‘n’ roll and West African music,” says Banning Eyre at Afropop Worldwide. Members of the group developed their unique sound over the course of numerous extended trips to West Africa, where they immersed themselves in the local culture and studied and performed with masters such as Lamine Soumano, Vieux Kante, Madou Dembele, and Koungbanan Conde. The magnetic instrumental quintet formed in early 2005 and has attracted a diverse and devoted national following, captivating crowds everywhere from the Bonnaroo Music Festival and the Blue Note to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The band’s energetic performances and acclaimed self-titled debut have won them praise from the New York Times, Global Rhythm, and Afropop Worldwide.”

This will be another NON SMOKING show- tickets are fairly priced at $10 adv and $15 at the door.
