Hackers Attack Roxbury News YouTube Site

Late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, unknown hackers illegally gained access to Roxbury News’ YouTube account and maliciously deleted one hundred sixty videos.

The videos were mostly political in nature- many highlighting local and national figures like Mayor Stephen Reed, City Council President Linda Thompson, Clare Jones, Gerald Kohn, Carl Singleton and Freddie Clark. Oftentimes, the videos showed their subjects in their less-than-glorious light.

Site proprietor and independent broadcaster James Roxbury said he’s offering a bounty of $1,000.00 for information leading to discovery of the perpetrators.

“At first, I thought ‘did we make a mistake and do this ourselves?’” explained Roxbury, “but the tell tale sign that it was a hacker was the sole video left on the site which the description of the video was altered to read a vicious attack against myself and Roxbury News”.

A video showing Clarey Jones presiding over her former post at the NAACP was left intact with the video description changed to read “You should just quit. s**t is horrible man. ive [sic] seen better work from an autistic 4th grader with an eye patch on and no hands to even operate the camera, so yeah i guess you can see by now how much your life is a joke and you should just stick to sitting on d**k.”

Anyone with information regarding the attack is urged to email info@roxburynews.com.

The following is a video message from James Roxbury-

  1. That’s beyond childish. Has he asked YouTube for an IP history of who logged into his account and when? I’m sure he’d have to get a subpoena, but that’s not difficult.

The message left by the hacker is disgusting. “In poor taste” doesn’t even begin to discribe the person who typed that out. I hope there identity comes to light so the people around them can learn their true character.

Has YouTube been notified of this? I’m sure they would be very interested to know how their site got hacked. If anything this could lead them to make accounts more secure. The hacker had to obtain the login and password somehow.

I will be testifying on Wednesday, July 30th at the Pennsylvania Gaming Oversight Committees public hearing on House Bill 783. This Bill will make the casino operators who are already tracking their patrons’ money and time spent gambling with COMP-CARDS to send monthly statements. This would enable gamblers and their family members to spot a loved one’s gambling problem before it gets out of hand. This has been the only legislation drafted since our gaming bill passed in 2004 that addresses the compulsive casino gambling problem before one becomes addicted. The public hearing will begin @ 9:30 am in the Irvis Office Building Room G-50 (adjacent to the Capitol Building)
