Band pistol whipped and robbed-
Because this won’t make the paper…Two men were pistol whipped and robbed downtown about 1am Monday morning by a gang of five.
The victims were both members of a touring band playing at Smalls, both required a trip to the hospital for stitches to close scalp wounds.
No one was killed, but they were robbed of about $200. The group of attackers ran and got away clean.

Where did the attack take place?
On South Street- at one of the tables at Smalls.
This brings Pennsylvania’s concealed carry law into question. I don’t carry while I’m drinking, nor would I necessarily draw while being mugged. But the sight of a particularly ugly-looking .40 caliber inches away from my hand, combined with a few seconds of eye contact and a loud “HEY MAN, SUP” at the would-be assailants would very likely have prevented this.
I’m reasonably certain it’s saved my ass more than twice while walking the alley between Front & Second walking from Pine to South.
