Leaned Up Against The Nitrous Tanks

“And he said ‘take a hit, hold your breath and I’ll dunk your head…and when you wake up…you’ll be high as hell and born again’…there’s strings attached to every single lover”

Do You Like American Music?

We like all kinds of music.

Hey now.

How bout a good old fashioned weekend music blog?

Beer drenched, foot stompin, rabble rousin’ dirty south bluegrass powerhouse Hackensaw Boys are back at ABC in Harrisburg for another early summer non smoking show tonight-

Doors open at 8 and tickets are ten bucks. Online presale ended last night-

Local folk singer Brooks West in the support slot at about 9:45- The Hackensaws shall proceed to jam at about 10:30-

Tattoo You.

Angie and Paul at 717 Tattoo are having a 7-1-7 party on Sunday- 07-01-07 at their shop in Highspire-

Paul is never one to do anything low key- so this should shape up to be a pretty fun event- there’s going to be tons of deals on new ink, piercings and supplies- along with some giveaways and free food and beverages- non alcoholic- making this a fun time for all ages-

717 Tattoo is located at 313 N 2nd Street in Highspire- directly acroos the street from Champions Bar and Grill- (and a quick ride straight out Cameron Street)

Wooka Chooka RASTA! Wooka chooka ZION!

I’ve done my fair share of Parks and Rec bashing over their seeming unwillingness to work with local promoters and agents when it comes to booking their eight-hundred-pound-gorilla music and Kipona festivals-

Breaking form, I was actually able to penetrate the deepest trenches of City Hall and managed to get them to give me one slot on one stage over the weekend-

Bob Marley and The Wailers tribute Mystic Rebel  will take the Caribbean Cove stage at Front and North Streets somewhat early on Sunday (7.1.7)

Set time is high noon- and although it’s kinda early on a Sunday- it’s still a step in the right direction for the City of Harrisburg American Music Fest-

So that’ll be my weekend- and I’ll most likely be surrounded by 31 Flavors of Sara(h)- I’ve come to the realization lately that I know a TON of girls named Sara(h)- and have decided to write a little something acknowledging all of the wonderful Sara(h)s that I know-

Figure that a guy’s GOTTA disconnect from all of this crazy Harrisburg Politic stuff now and again…I’ll most likely come home tonight and put that together-

Cause we’ll just take it easy this weekend.

Enjoy and savor your independence this weekend, Harrisburg- and watch out for stray bottle rockets around Front and Calder.

Miller Responds To Reed’s Statements

In response to statements made by Mayor Steven Reed regarding the discrepancies of the financial doings of the Harrisburg Senators, Councilman Dan Miller released this statement just minutes ago…

Harrisburg, PA – Harrisburg City Council Member, Dan Miller, states that the Mayor’s comment’s regarding the Senators’ accounting, as printed in today’s Patriot News, are absurd.  Perhaps this is because they come from someone without an accounting background.

The real issue is Reed’s claim “that when he was made aware of Miller’s request for records, he approved their release.”  I first requested this information in July 2006 from the Senators.  They said it would have to be cleared by the Mayor.  Instead of providing the audited numbers, the Mayor’s office provided their version of unaudited financial results.  I continued to request the official audited statements but was rebuffed.  I finally received an opinion from the city solicitor agreeing that the audited statements should be released to me, however, if the Senators refused I would have to sue to get them.  Only the 2005 statements were released to me in December 2006.  I have continued to request all other audited statements and as recently as June 1, 2007 Linda Lingle wrote in an email to me, “I did not give the 1996-2006 audited financial statements to the Central Penn Business Journal.   Nor am I authorized to release the information.  Sorry I can’t help.”  Requests were made today, June 28, 2007, to both the Senators and Linda Lingle for the audited statements and there is still no indication that they will be provided to me.

Concerning the Mayor’s remarks about depreciation, they are nonsensical.  Depreciation and amortization are both actual and legitimate expenses that are generally included on properly prepared financial statements.  What I believe the Mayor is talking about is the amortization of franchise fees. These were correctly recorded on the financial statement however in my calculation of the combined loss on the sale of the Senators I did include an adjustment for amortization that correctly removed this expense item.

I can neither confirm nor deny claims about bond payments made by the Senators as the audited statements have not been issued to me.

Miller Releases Official Senators Report

Following up last nights bombshell announcement of another financial smokescreen propagated by the Mayor and being quoted as saying “I was repeatedly denied the information. What I did receive indicates that the Mayor’s numbers are inconsistent with the facts. Unfortunately, this causes me to question the accuracy of any information coming from the mayor’s office,” Harrisburg City Councilman Dan Miller released this report today; detailing his ten year findings.
