P.A.L. Building Update

I ran into the elusive John Traynor at the Midtown Tavern last night.

And I have to admit- until I met the guy, I thought that he was a made-up story. A fictional character plopped into the headlines as another way to bolster morale of the city by the MFL-

I was in a celebratory mood- as was he- and the pitchers outweighed any real substance for me to write about- with the exception of my opinon-

The Hard Facts will start coming together soon though- there’s a planning board meeting in Council Chambers tonight at 6:30.

Open to the public- and I’ll be there.

Traynor seems like a decent guy. And he does speak passionately about the project- but again- without any real numbers or plans to look at, I can’t come to a fair opinion on this just yet.

Check back tonight for the official goods.

I’ve talked with him, too. Haven’t met – he’s promised to, though. But is there progress on the building? I’d sure like to know

We’ve (FOM) had the pleasure of meeting / talking with John too. You are right, he’s an enthusiastic, positive guy and excited to be in Midtown making a difference. While I admit to being cautious with my optimism, as you are, I / we wish him nothing but the best… if it all comes together it will be fantastic for the neighborhood, no doubt.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing what you learn.

  3. [...] Additionally, page six of this month’s Mode Magazine offers an interview with John Traynor- the developer who is rehabilitating the Police Athletic League building at 1110 N Third Street. A topic which has been covered by the local blogosphere for months- here, here, here, here, here, and here. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not defending Newhouse or The Patriot-News by any stretch. [...]
