Well, not really…but it might as well be.
Just got the Harrisburg Hello Newsletter- put out by the Downtown Improvement District weekly.
In the newsletter, they announced that Our city is once again showing it’s ineptitude to book a decent day of music on its own.
Here’s the gist of things-
The City is throwing an all day street festival on Saturday July 14th at Third and Walnut stretching out about four blocks.
It’s going to be food vendors, roadside art and surely countless other dollar grabbing items lined up on the streets.
And the headlining band…the best thing they could find for an all day outdoor street festival is a CHRISTIAN ROCK BAND called –
Sonicflood.
Christian Rock.
At a City Sponsored festival.
Can someone send a memo to parks and rec to let them know how disappointing this is?
Oh wait…I think I just did.
Here’s their video for their Christian Rock Hit (note: sarcasm) “Cry Holy”.
Yeah, we’re cryin’ holy alright.

lame, lame, lame, lame, lame

oh My god Id throw myself in the river!
And be baptized by Jesus.
At a Harrisburg street festival.
Hmmm…define irony.
Juxtaposing the drunken debauchery that is Downtown HBG with a crappy Christian band.
Crappy bars, crappy soul savers, it all equals out.
Your entitled to your opinion but seriously I think more people need saved. i say good for Harrisburg! Why Mike are you so negative? Are you against christians or something. I take it your not a fan of our lord and savior jesus christ. After all he did die on a cross so that we might all be saved and go to heaven. Just remember good will always out weigh evil and prevail, so like it or not we christians aren’t going anywhere. It might do everyone a little good to listen to a little christian music. It really isn’t that bad.
Now open up your bibles and read John 3:16 No offense but whether anyone likes it or not, God is coming and the saved are going to be protected. Trust me I am not afraid to voice my opinion. After all someone has to stick up for Christ and trust me this isn’t the first time I felt persecution for my faith. So say what you will I think it is a terrific idea!
Kelly
Kelly- you’re not being persecuted.
I think you’d need to do something major to be persecuted.
I didn’t mention anything about my personal beliefs- and you don’t have the right to question the reasoning for this post.
It has nothing to do with “not being a fan of jesus christ”- it has to do with a (supposed) non-partisan city organization throwing a block party with the headlining entertainment being a Christian Biased Rock Band-
There’s nothing WRONG with that kind of music, per se- to each his own is how I see it-
What’s WRONG, Kelly, is that the city is not in the position to promote a music act from an organized religion which excludes those who don’t practice that faith.
(And the only thing that needs saving is your grammar and spelling)
Hey man I believe!
I mean, I am a believer in immaculate conception— How do you think I had my daughter and maintained being the lovely virgin I am today.
Oh, and being a Minister PROBABLY had something to do with that.
You religious types— you just dont get it, its all capitalism too. Buy into Jesus…
I did- 29.95 and now Im a Preacher for hire.
In a time where the surrounding residents are asking for something better, the city takes a step backwards.
Ski Roundtop would be a lot better if they offered more music festivals than just the Purple Door festival.
Harrisburg is still seeking *better* musical entertainment and I don’t think Christan Rock fits the bill.
Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but I question the way this even this event is being promoted. “National Recording Artists”??
HarrisburgHello does not mention this is a Christian Rock festival. Nobody wants to get suckered into going to a Jesus fest.
Good will never outweigh evil Kelly. Without evil, there can be no good. So without Christianity, there can be no Satan. Maybe that’s over your head…
No one is ‘persecuting’ xians here, just bad music. Some of us don’t want stigmata of the ears when they do venture downtown.
Please don’t flatter yourself and say ‘help im being oppressed,’ you’re not the victim when it is XIAN music being played!
