Gee…we’re on a roll.

Harrisburg School District ranked dead last in the state.

Harrisburg School District drowning in debt and fiscal irresponsibility.

Murders, shootings, muggings, thefts daily.

Property taxes increased 17%.

Millions in loans on the backs of taxpayers to pay for a Money Pit of a trash incinerator that was doomed from the start.

Water rates increased despite reduced demand.

Trash rates increase to pay for incinerator flub.

Summary in three words? “Shit Rolls Downhill”

(Did I leave anything out? Feel free to add to the list)

Harrisburg Christian Rock Festival

Well, not really…but it might as well be.

Just got the Harrisburg Hello Newsletter- put out by the Downtown Improvement District weekly.

In the newsletter, they announced that Our city is once again showing it’s ineptitude to book a decent day of music on its own.

Here’s the gist of things-

The City is throwing an all day street festival on Saturday July 14th at Third and Walnut stretching out about four blocks.

It’s going to be food vendors, roadside art and surely countless other dollar grabbing items lined up on the streets.

And the headlining band…the best thing they could find for an all day outdoor street festival is a CHRISTIAN ROCK BAND called –

Sonicflood.

Christian Rock.

At a City Sponsored festival.

Can someone send a memo to parks and rec to let them know how disappointing this is?

Oh wait…I think I just did.

Here’s their video for their Christian Rock Hit (note: sarcasm) “Cry Holy”.

Yeah, we’re cryin’ holy alright.

I met her at the party pit-

Recount. We knew it was coming.

The candidates endorsed by Mayor Stephen R. Reed have been granted a recount in the Democratic race for the Harrisburg City Council.

I sincerely hope that Gloria Martin Roberts, Susan Brown Wilson and Kia Hansard call for their own recount as well.

“Harrisburg: Shenanigan City USA”

(nice ring to it…and hell, we’ve got enough Irish bars right?)

Now In (0)Stereo(0)

After some bandwidth issues last week (The Hold Steady Almost Killed My Website) and dubbing the mono mix of this to a still-mono-but-in-both-speakers version, a good, solid recording of The Hold Steady at The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company is now up for streaming and download HERE

(I absolutely love this recording, by the way. The downbeat audience claps going into ‘Stations’ is almost hilarious- (track three- starts at about 8:40)
