Creepy Craigslist

Normally, I wouldn’t write about something I find on Craigslist. It’s one of my regularly scheduled stops on the Web and, frankly, I enjoy the fact that it’s never reached that “critical mass” point in the Harrisburg area.

More of an “unofficial club” than “best kept secret”; Craigslist has allowed me to buy, sell, trade and rent virtually everything I’ve needed- apartment, car, house painter, Fireworks tent, tattoos- you name it, it’s probably on CL-

And then there’s the Missed Connections- chances are, if you’re a Craigslist browser and your right hand is on your mouse right now,  you’ve viewed the Missed Connections section.

It’s fun and somewhat voyeuristic- imagine a perfect stranger telling you about the woman or man he or she made eye contact with or pulled up next to at a stoplight and exchanged glances- but then put that information on the Web- all in the name of trying to hook up.

Who knows how often someone actually connects from one of those posts, but as long as people keep putting up ads like the following, I’ll keep reading-

This could qualify as one of the Creepiest Craigslist Postings Ever:

I was downtown on second st and i saw you just pulling up. i think we made eye contact, because you very obviously deliberately left your purse sitting there in the car with your employee id showing if you looked in the window. i wanted to ask for your number but i am shy but i saw you go into fisaga’s, that one irish bar, noma’s, back to fisagas, then you met some friends and went into mollys but they dont let me in there anymore so i had to wait across the street for you to come out but its ok because i had a warm coat and i would have shared with you but by then it was 2:00 and you left with some friends. i followed you to mechanicsburg but i got lost when you started playing cat and mouse. i was in the car behind you with my four-ways on but i couldnt keep up so anyway i just wanted to say hi and i think we should hang out so email me
